Interim Barring Order and How To Apply

An interim Barring Order is a temporary barring order granted in the same circumstances as a Protection Order. This is granted ex parte (without notice to the other side) and generally lasts until the hearing of the Barring Order application. It is only granted in extreme cases of domestic violence. A person must also satisfy the relationship/residency requirement.

You must attend at your local District Court Office. The Clerk will assist you in completing an Information. You will then be given a Court date as soon as possible (the next sitting) and swear the Information before the Judge. He will then decide whether the incident of violence or threatening behaviour warrants the granting of an Interim Barring Order.
